SPEARFISH, S.D.: Regis softball took two away from RMAC conference opponent's Black Hills State University. The women took the first game 1-0 and the second 2-0, both in seven innings.
The first game was scoreless until the sixth inning, when freshman Rachel Illias started the Ranger half of the inning with a triple. Freshman Taylor Wilcox picked up an RBI single during the inning to score her and bring the score to 1-0 Rangers.
Illias went 3-for-3 and junior Shannon Massine and Wilcox each had a single apiece.
Gaffin (9-8) earned the win after pitching the complete game. She allowed five hits, while striking out three.
The women scored two runs in the first inning of the second game to start it off and kept that lead throughout the whole game.
The game started with back-to-back singles by Massine and sophomore Breanna Backlund. Massine scored on a passed ball and Backlund scored on an error by the catcher.
Freshman Molly Tyler (3-6) picked up the win after throwing the complete game. She allowed four hits while striking out four.
The Rangers earned a spot in the RMAC Conference Tournament and will play their first game on Thursday, April 26th at 10:00 AM. The game will take place in Golden, Colo. at the Colorado School of Mines Softball Field and will be against CSU-Pueblo.
