Rangers Fall 84-65 to Colorado Christian
Denver, Colo.: After defeating UCCS last Friday on the road, Regis fell to Colorado Christian 84-65 while at home on Friday. Tae'lor Purdy and Chelsea Porter scored 17 and 16 points respectively.
The Cougars grabbed the first lead of the game and were able to increase it to five before the Rangers went on a 6-0 run over a span of two minutes to go ahead by one (6-5). Colorado Christian regained the lead and held onto it for the remainder of the period. Going into the break, Regis was down by 17.
During the second half, Regis went on another run, this time 7-0, over a period of about two minutes to cut a 17 point defecit to 10 by the 10:49 mark. At the 9:35 mark, an unexpected inturruption caused a break in the game. One of the shot clocks stopped working which forced the other one to be shut down and the clock to be run manually with seconds ten or lower being announced. Randomly, the non-working clock restarted which then forced another break for the opposite one to be turned on again. After so many delays, points were exchanged before CCU walked away at the buzzer with a 19 point victory (84-65).
As Purdy scored 17 points for the Rangers, she also dished out three assists, grabbed two steals, six rebounds, and shot 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Kara Larson also dished out three assists while Meghan Hollenga snagged four steals.
Up next, Regis will face Colorado School of Mines on Saturday at home. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
