Purdy's 24 Points not Enough as Rangers Succumb to the Cowgirls 67-65
Las Vegas, N.M.: After falling to New Mexico Highlands on Saturday 67-65, the Rangers hold an 8-7 overall record while being 1-6 in the RMAC. Tae'lor Purdy led Regis with 24 points while Salina Kuiper scored in double digits for her second time in as many games (14). Chelsea Porter had 13 points.
The lead was exchanged for the first three and-a-half minutes of play until N.M. Highlands (7-7, 2-5 RMAC) went ahead and stayed ahead for the remainder of the period. With just four minutes left before the break, the Cowgirls led by 12 (32-20). Regis was able to cut this deficit to four (34-30) by going on a 10-2 run before halftime.
With 7:54 left in the game, Highlands was up by 11 (56-45). Over the next three minutes, Regis went on another run, this time 12-0, to take a one point lead (56-57). From that point on, the lead was exhanged various times before the Cowgirls went ahead with 32 seconds remaining and stayed ahead for the victory.
Regis shot 45.3 from the field (24-53) while sinking 8-of-11 from the charity stripe (72.7).
Up next, the Rangers will face Metro State at home on Tuesday. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
