Alamosa, Colo.: Sophomore Gianna Lombardi and freshman Erin Todd took home the first Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Players of the Week honors. Lombardi took home defensive honors while Todd earned offensive player of the week.
Lombardi, from Arvada, Colo., was a stalwart in goal for the Rangers in their first two contests holding opponents to just a 6.5 goal per game average. She went 2-0 in the Rangers 16-6 win at Colorado Mesa and a 16-7 win against Fort Lewis last Saturday. She had a .536 save percentage, recording 15 total saves while also grabbing eight groundballs and causing two turnovers.
Todd, from Colorado Springs, Colo., started her collegiate career off with a bang. She scored seven goals on just eight shot attempts in her first two games. She scored three times against Colorado Mesa, while getting four more in the Rangers win over Fort Lewis. She currently leads the WILA in goals scored so far this season.
The 2-0 Rangers will travel next week to the east coast for a week-long trip.
