Denver, Colo.: The Regis Ranger women's lacrosse team stays undefeated after beating the visiting McKendree University Bearcats today by a score of 23-3. The Rangers dominated the game with twelve goals in the first half and eleven in the second half. Regis had 42 shots as opposed to McKendree who finished with a mere eight shots during today's game. Emily Behr led the Rangers in today's match with four goals and Shannon Bryant finished with a hat trick.
In the first half, the Rangers were able to score four goals in less than three minutes with Behr and Erin Todd leading the way while the Bearcats could only score twice in the first half. The Rangers solid defense and persistent offense kept the Bearcats from ever making a presence in Regis territory.
The second half began with the score at 12-2 in favor of Regis. Bree Suter started things off for the Bearcats by scoring within the first minute. Despite the opening goal from McKendree, Regis responded with eleven unanswered goals to put the game well beyond reach. Shannon Bryant found the back of the net three times in the second half.
Today's game was undoubtedly led by the offense as goalie Gianna Lombardi only faced six shots on goal. Aside from Behr and Bryant, three other Rangers had multiple goals in today's match. The Rangers were also able to capitalize on the 18 turnovers the Bearcats had.
Regis improves to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in conference. The Rangers will travel to Fort Lewis for their next game on March 23 at 12:00 PM.
