Alamosa, Colo.: Regis scored early and often and stays atop the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association with a 21-5 win over Adams State.
12 different players scored for Regis (6-3, 5-0 WILA) and Regis controlled the draw control by a margin of 23-5 to give the Rangers more offensive opportunities. Erin Todd and Maribel Gallegos notched the first two goals for Regis and they never looked back. Adams State (3-4, 2-3 WILA) cut the lead in half at 2-1 but Regis scored the next five goals to take a commanding 7-1 lead. The Rangers went into halftime with a 12-4 lead.
The two teams traded goals to begin the second half but Regis scored the final eight goals to make the final margin 21-5. The Rangers were very efficient getting their 21 goals on 30 shots and assisting on 12 of the 21 goals.
Gianna Lombardi allowed just five goals and had five saves, while also grabbing five ground balls. Elkins had a game-high six draw controls, with Margaret Nahrup getting three. Emily Behr caused two turnovers as did Jessika Carlstrom.
The Rangers host a big WILA contest on Friday as they host Lindenwood who won last season's WILA crown and is second behind the Rangers with a 2-0 WILA mark. That game will begin at 1:00 p.m.
