Durango, Colo.: The Regis University women's lacrosse team continued its dominance over Fort Lewis with a 17-9 victory. Regis and Fort Lewis have played 10 times with Regis winning all.
Freshman Erin Todd showed why she is one of the top freshman in the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association by scoring six goals on the day, including the first two before the fans were even in their seats.
Fort Lewis (4-4, 3-2 WILA) scored at the 26:32 mark to cut the lead in half but Regis responded with four in a row to lead 6-1 with 19:49 left in the first half. Regis (5-3, 4-0 WILA) scored the final five goals of the half to take a commanding 13-4 lead.
The second half scoring was much slower with Fort Lewis outscoring the Rangers 5-4.
Regis put 39 shots at the net compared to just 19 for the Skyhawks.
Todd also assisted on two other goals and were trailed in scoring by Maribel Gallegos, Erin Dybus, and Margaret Nahrup all scoring two goals. Emily Behr joined Todd with two assists while Danica Cutshall came off the bench to garner a game-high four assists.
Regis will travel east to take on Adams State in Alamosa on Sunday afternoon.
