Westminster, Colo.: The Regis
Rangers were picked to finish seventh in the preseason RMAC
poll. However, in the first RMAC event of the
season they finished in fourth place with a team score of 897
(+33). UC-Colorado Springs won the event with a team
score of 872 (+8) with Fort Lewis second at 883 (+19) and Western
New Mexico third with a combined score of 891 (+27). The
three-round, two-day event took place at Heritage at Westmoor Golf
Course (Par 72, 7,410 Yards) in Westminster.
Sophomore Zach Johnson led the Rangers with a 10th place finish
shooting a six-over 222. Freshman Charlie Marusiak was one
shot behind Johnson in a tie for 11th, while fellow freshman Taylor
Hulbert shot a nine-over 225 to finish in a tie for 13th.
Junior Josh Wagner finished with a three-round total of 228
(+12). Wagner and Marusiak tied for the team low in one
round, each shooting a 71, with Wagner's coming in the first round
and Marusiak's in the second round. Freshman Robert Quick
rounded out the Rangers with a 28th place finish shooting a 233
(+17).
This was the first RMAC event of the season, there will be one
more this fall and two more next spring. The Rangers will
participate in RMAC Event #2 to take place in Kearney, Neb. next
Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 22-23.
