Colorado Springs, Colo.: Ranger junior pitcher
Darren Chavez is off to a good start in his first two weeks in a
Regis baseball uniform. For his efforts last weekend, Chavez
was named RMAC Pitcher of the Week.
The 5-10 right-hander from Lafayette, Colo. went 1-0 last
weekend on the hill helping the Rangers to a 17-1 win in the first
game of a four-game series against Hastings College. Chavez
went 7.0 innings allowing just four hits and one earned runs.
He struck out one and allowed just one walk.
Chavez, who transferred from Northeastern Junior College, is a
perfect 2-0 on the young season with a 0.75 ERA. He leads the
Rangers with 12 innings pitched and has allowed just one earned
run.
Regis is currently 5-1 after sweeping the four-game series with
Hastings College last weekend. Regis will host #4 ranked
Emporia State for a four-game series beginning on Saturday morning
at 11 AM.
