Denver, Colo.: On Wednesday, Regis took a rival
victory as they defeated Metro State 2-1 in double overtime at
home. Jordan
Miller and Meghan Stuart
scored the two goals for Regis, one in the first half and one in
the second overtime period, to jump to 10-4-0 (7-2-0 RMAC).
Just as it seemed as though the first half was going to end
scoreless, Regis fell to a 1-0 deficit with just over two minutes
remaining. Metro State's Madison McQuilliams scored her fourth goal
of the year as she dribbled in for a shot into the upper right
corner of the net.
The Rangers quickly answered back with an equalizer as the
second half started. Just over a minute into the period, Miller
received a cross from Marissa Davis and
sent the ball past Roadrunner goalie Alee Seehausen and into the
lower right corner of the net. Neither team scored again in the
half sending the game into overtime.
The first overtime period looked to score for Metro (9-2-2,
5-2-2 RMAC) a few times, but the Regis defense stood strong sending
the game into a second overtime.
Just 26 seconds into the second overtime, Stuart received a
cross from Miller to put Regis up 2-1 and end the game in favor of
the Rangers.
Up next, Regis will face Mesa State in Grand Junction on Friday.
Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
