Denver, Colo.: An under-manned Adams State team
was no match for the 10th-ranked Regis Rangers as they won
convincingly 7-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
Junior Kyle
Emge led the Rangers with two goals helping Regis to a 30-5
shot advantage.
Regis (11-1-3, 7-1-3 RMAC) got their first goal from freshman Justin
Ortinau, his third of the season, when junior Ben Buhler passed the
ball down the field and found Ortinau who kicked it in from a top
the 18. Just under two minutes later, Emge found the back of
the net after Adams State failed to clear the ball and Emge was
able to tap it in from just in front of the goal.
Three Rangers scored their first goal of the season.
Sophomore Ryan
Rombach got a goal with 35:09 gone in the first half, while
just 2:39 later senior Gary Cole scored on a
penalty kick for his first. The final goal of the game came
off the foot of sophomore Kyle Farrell with
about 10 minutes remaing again on a penalty kick. Junior Ben
Buhler scored the other goal for Regis just nine seconds before the
halftime break on an assist from Emge.
Freshman Doug Passalaqua
got the victory in goal, his 10th of the season. He gave way
to sophomore Scott Brown who
combined with Passalaqua shutout Adams State (1-13, 1-10
RMAC).
Buhler, Emge and freshman Ben Fredrickson
all tallied assists for the Rangers who haven't lost in eight
matches.
Regis will now take a day off before heading to Golden, Colo. to
meet up with nationally ranked #1 Colorado Mines on Sunday at 1:30
p.m.
