Denver, Colo.: Coming off of a six game winning
streak, the Rangers tied Nebraska-Kearney at home on Sunday 0-0.
Regis outshot the Lopers 33 to six in the match placing 15 shots on
goal but were unable to put one in the back of Kearney's net.
The first half went scoreless as Regis outshot Kearney 11 to one
putting four shots on goal. The Rangers tallied two corner kicks in
the half but were unable to take advantage of any crosses into the
box going into the break 0-0.
The second half began reading much the same as the first with
the Rangers tallying numerous shots but being unable to get any
past Kearney's second half goalkeeper Vanessa Leeper; Marissa
Niday tended the net for the first half.
By the 12 minute mark, Regis had outshot the Lopers 24 to one
with ten shots on goal, but was unable to boot one into the back of
Kearney's net. The Loper defense worked hard to keep the
Rangers from taking one-on-one shots with the keeper. After 26
shots for Regis and one for the Lopers, regulation play ended
sending the game into overtime.
The first ten minute overtime period went scoreless leading to a
second overtime period. With 1:45 remaining, Taylor White looked to
score for Regis as she headed one backwards into the hands of
Leeper. With that being the last shot Regis took in the match,
Kearney added one more blocked shot, the game ended 0-0.
