Denver, Colo.: A 16-0 run by Regis midway through the second half blew open a one-point game and propelled the Rangers to an 86-76 victory over Chadron State. 

Chadron State (4-3, 2-1 RMAC) led early and kept the lead for the first 10:23 of the first half before Regis (3-3, 1-2 RMAC) took the first lead on a layup by freshman Jon Conley with 9:17 remaining.  Regis held the lead until Kevin McClelland converted a three-point play, however a layup by junior guard Lance Korell evened the score at 37 at half.

Chadron State hit on 58.3 percent from the field in the first half but were hampered by 16 turnovers, while the Rangers connected on 44.8 percent.

Trey Mosby scored a layup following a Ranger turnover to put his Eagles ahead 50-49 with 13:19 remaining in the second half.  Much to the pleasure of the Ranger fans, that would be the last points that Chadron State would score for the next four minutes and 25 points.  The Rangers defense forced the Eagles into some tough shots and the Ranger defense spurred the offense to scoring 16 points during this time and going ahead 65-50 following a Korell three pointer with 9:03 remaining.

Chadron State battled back and cut the lead to nine points, 70-61, with just under five minutes remaining in the game.  Regis shut the door by scoring the next six points to take a commanding 76-61 lead.

All the Rangers had to do was connect from the free throw line and that is what they did by hitting 7-of-10 over the last two minutes of the game to win 86-76 for the first RMAC victory of the season.

The Rangers scored 27 turnovers off of CSC's 26 turnovers.  Regis had a season-high 19 assists and missed just seven shots in the second half going 14-of-21 (66.7 percent) from the field.  Regis shot a season-high 40 free throws, connecting on 25 of them.

Korell put in a career-high 23 points on 6-of-12 from the field and 7-of-10 from the charity stripe.  He connected on four three-point baskets.  Junior Chris Johansen and sophomore Slobodan Jovanovic each had 14 points, with Johansen nearly perfect from the field at 5-for-6.

Conley came off the bench to chip in with 11 points, while fellow freshman Patrick Wheatlake had a career night with four points, but more importantly six rebounds to lead the Rangers in the latter.  Johansen had five rebounds, while Conley snared four caroms.

Junior Brandon MacLellan also helped the Rangers off the bench with nine points, while senior Curtis Mitchell tied his career high with six assists and also had eight points.

Regis will host Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Regis Fieldhouse.
