Denver, Colo.: The Rangers continued their
winning streak on Wedneday as they defeated Seattle Pacific 3-1 at
home. Nathan Kafer and Taylor Diem both scored their third goal
this season while Justin Ortinau scored his first.
The first half of the game was evenly matched as both teams
posted five shots; the Falcons tallied five SOG as the Rangers had
three. A fight to keep the ball out of each team's territory
caused a physical game on both ends with Regis taking a 1-0 lead in
the half. A Falcon foul put the ball into the cleats of Ortinau who
sent it sailing into the lower right corner of Seattle
Pacific's net.
Regis tacked two more goals in the board in the second half. The
first was by Kafer, his third of the season, who was served by
Ortinau from midfield. Kafer dribbled in for the goal. The second
was scored by Diem. After the ball was fumbled around in the
Falcon's box, it found the foot of Kyle Emge who served the
ball to Diem.
Seattle Pacific (0-4-1) cut their deficit to two when Tyler
Schultz received the ball from Corey McGuire for the goal. However,
this goal was not enough as the Falcons fell 3-1 to Regis
(4-0).
Up next, Regis will face Colorado Christian in their first
conference matchup on Sept. 17th in Golden. Kickoff is set for 1:00
p.m.
