Box Score Denver, Colo.: "Rivalry Week" begins at Regis
University as three teams, volleyball and men's and women's soccer
do battle with cross-town rival Metro State Tuesday and
Wednesday. Volleyball gets underway with Metro State Tuesday
night beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Regis Fieldhouse, while the
soccer teams travel to Metro to take on the Roadrunners Wednesday
afternoon beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Five of the six teams are ranked going into the matches.
The Regis volleyball team is now ranked 25th in the most recent
AVCA Coaches Top 25 poll. It is their first ranking since the
2002 team was ranked #22 on October 1, 2002. Regis is
currently 7-4 and 3-0 in the RMAC while #14 Metro State is 8-3
overall and also 3-0 in conference action.
The Regis women's soccer team, 4-3 overall and 1-1 in the RMAC
will take on #3 Metro State who is 5-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in RMAC
action. The Rangers are looking to break the Roadrunners
22-game winning streak in the series.
The Regis men take their newly announced #18 national ranking
against the 11th-ranked team in the nation. The Rangers were
22nd last week but moved up four spots with victories over Seattle
Pacific, 3-1, and Colorado Christian, 1-0.
