Box Score Denver, Colo.: For the second time in RMAC play this season, the Rangers recorded a loss. On Monday, Regis traveled to Grand Junction to take on the Mavericks of Mesa State. Unfortunately, the Rangers' momentum from their three-point victory (76-73) on Sunday against Western State did not follow them to MSC.
Mesa State gained an early lead and ran it up to 12 by the 4:50 mark as they went on a 9-0 run. They extended this lead to 16 at one point before walking away at the break up by 14 (33-19).
During the second half, Regis went on a run of their own to come within a six-point reach of the Mavericks. Regis scored 15 points to MSC's seven in the first five minutes of the second period (40-34). Regis cut the gap to five four more times during the half but were unable to jump ahead as they did on Sunday eventually succumbing 68-62 to the Mavericks.
Leading Regis in scoring was Lauren Luebbe with 15 points. Kari Ameling followed with 14 and Meagan Nickell tallied 12. Meghan Hollenga and Chelsea Porter each pulled down five boards for the Rangers while Kaitie Vader recorded five steals.
