Box Score Denver, Colo.: Chelsea Porter's 19 points weren't enough for the Rangers as they recorded 35 total turnovers to fall 75-61 to Colorado Christian at home on Friday. Porter, along with three other Rangers, recorded nine boards in the game and was 2-for-4 from long range.
The first half of the game started the downhill momentum for Regis as CCU began the first period with a 19-2 run through the first eight and a half minutes of play. By the 8:20 mark, the Cougars had a 20 point lead (27-7) over Regis. However, the Rangers never faltered as they went on a 16-7 run of their own from this point on. Unfortunately, after being 1-for-10 from the free throw line and shooting just 32.1 percent from the field, this run only brought them within 11 of the Cougars (34-23).
The second period read a little differently as Regis ran through CCU. At the 13 minute mark, the Cougars were sitting 18 up from the Rangers (48-30) before Regis went on a 15-2 run to come within five of Christian (50-45) with 9:29 remaining. This gap would be the closest Regis came to CCU for the remainder of the game as Christian walked away at the buzzer with a 75-61 victory.
As Porter led Regis in points she, along with Erin O'Toole and Kara Larson, snagged nine rebounds for the Rangers. Behind Porter in scoring was Kaitie Vader who totaled nine points on the night followed by Jacque Machesney with seven. Machesney also dished out four assists.
Up next, the Rangers will host Colorado Mines on Saturday at the Regis Fieldhouse. Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
