The Ranger women's soccer team took a 2-1 loss today against the Roadrunners of Metro State. The women travelled across town for the RMAC conference competition. The team had 16 shots, five of which were on goal. The first half saw some action, but none of it resulted in any goals.
The Rangers scored first in the 69th minute. Forward Kari Taylor struggled for possession with defenders just to the right of the 18 yard box. Taylor won the contest and passed to forward Meghan Stuart, who shook her defender to the right, and got a cross of to forward Chelsea Bokan. Bokan, at the top right of the six yard box turned around and chipped the ball over her defender and the goalie to the back of the net.
The Roadrunners, fueled by the Ranger goal, used their next possession effectively. Off a shot by Metro, the ball bounced off the chest of Ranger midfielder Marissa Davis and into the goal.
In the 74th minute, the Roadrunner's forward Karisa Price sent the ball down the field for forward Aubrey Fondy to pick up. Fondy used the pass to fire a low shot past her defender and into the Ranger goal bringing the score to 2-1.
The Rangers will play Colorado Mesa Friday, October 14th at 4:00PM at home.
