Spring Overcomes Injury to Propel Rangers to a 1-0 Shutout over Mavericks

The Ranger men's soccer program outscored the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa University today in the RMAC Conference match.  The Rangers scored the 86th minute of play to secure the win after having 22 shots, 11 of which were on goal, on the day.

After a collision in the first half, freshman defender Jordan Spring was sent to the hospital with a gash in his head.  He received six staples and returned to the field.  With fifteen minutes left in the match, the Parker, Colo. native was cleared by the athletic trainer and returned to the game.

With 4:35 on the clock, midfielder Stephen Reed sent a free kick toward the Maverick posts.  Spring, staples and all, went up for the attempt and sent a header into the back of the net for the game-winning goal.

Ben Sabados spent the full 90:00 in between the posts for the Ranger men, recording two saves throughout the match. 

With this match, the men reach an overall record of 13-3-1 and a RMAC Conference record of 10-3-1. 

The Rangers will play next in the RMAC semifinals Friday, November 4th in Durango, Colo.  They will play the winner of the Wednesday, November 2nd match, Metro State vs. Colorado State-Pueblo that takes place in Durango, Colo. at 2:30 PM.
