Box Score Golden, Colo.: The Rangers women's basketball team opened the Regis/Colorado Mines Thanksgiving Classic with a 56-49 win over the Buccaneers of Barry University.
The Rangers outscored the Bucs in the both halves, shooting 35% from the field as a team. The women kept their opponents to only four attempts at the free throw line by recording only nine personal fouls on the night. The Rangers also recorded the most rebounds pulling down 45 compared to the 39 that Barry tallied.
Forward Tae'lor Purdy led the women with 17 points and nine rebounds on the day. The Agate, Colo. native shot 38 percent from the field making seven-of-18 shots.
Forward Sarah Feeney put up 13 points and seven rebounds. The native of Bismarck, N.D. had two steals against the Bucs and two assists for the Rangers. Feeney put in four-of-six from the field and went four-for-six at the charity stripe. She also went a perfect one-for-one from long distance.
Pulling down five rebounds apiece were guard Brandi Collins and post Kari Ameling. Collins also helped the Rangers to two assists, two steals and six points. Ameling tallied three steals, one assist and four points as well.
The women will continue the Thanksgiving Classic Tournament hosted by Regis and Colorado Mines tomorrow, Saturday, November 26th at 1:00 PM. The Rangers will take on the Cougars of the University of Sioux Falls in Golden, Colo. at Colorado School of Mines.
