Kearney, Neb.: #25 Regis tonight fell to #6 Nebraska-Kearney in the first round of the RMAC Tournament in three sets.  The loss marks the end of the season for the Rangers which also happened last season.

Regis finished the season with a 21-9 overall record which is the best record since the 2001 team went 24-9.  The Rangers are playing in the toughest region in the country with eight teams ranked in the top 25 and as of last week's NCAA Central Region rankings, the Rangers were on the outside looking in.  Eight teams make the NCAA Tournament from the NSIC and RMAC and 10 teams are ranked and the Rangers were not one of them.

Regis fell by set scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-16.  Nebraska-Kearney (30-1) led every point but two points in all three sets and led 14-2 in set two before the Rangers settled down and outscored the Lopers 14-11 the rest of the way, but it wasn't enough for Regis.

Three seniors, Cassidee Young, Lyz Kann and Kydell Highland all played their last collegiate match.  Highland led all Rangers with 10 kills, while junior Caitlin McDonnell had eight kills and hit a team-high .538 attack percentage.

Kann had three kills and the second-leading blocker in the RMAC had two blocks.  Sophomore Sage Martinson and freshiman Aubrey Podshweit each dished out 18 assists while digging out five and seven balls respectively.

Young tied for team honors with seven digs as did freshman Jessica Wojcik.  Gina Morgan had a nice finish to a fine freshman season with six kills, just one error, a .417 attack percentage and three blocks.
