Close RMAC Game Results in 70-64 Loss for Women's Basketball

Denver, Colo.:  The Rangers took on the #3 ranked Roadrunners of Metro State Saturday, falling just short in the game 70-64.  The game was neck and neck throughout, both teams putting up good numbers.  The Rangers hit on 40.0% from the field, and outperformed the Roadrunners with 41.2% from long distance and 81.3% from the charity stripe.  Off the bench, the Rangers put in 23 points on the night.

With the score all but tied going into the second half, both teams came on to the hardwood ready to win a basketball game.  Throughout the second half, the Ranger women outscored the Roadrunners 50.0% to 16.7% from three-point range. 

Forwards Tae'lor Purdy and Meghan Hollenga, along with guard Nicole Brzeczek all reached double-figure points in the day's game.  Purdy scored 16 points for the women, while pulling down four rebounds and tallying one assist.  She was a perfect 6-for-6 at the charity stripe.

Hollenga was a mainstay for the Ranger defense the game, leading the women with 10 rebounds, a high for both teams.  She also hit on 5-of-8 from the field and went 3-for-5 at the free throw line for a 13 point performance.  Hollenga also recorded one assist and one steal.

Brzeczek came off the bench to score 10 points and help the Rangers to two assists.  The junior transfer hit 3-of-5 total field goals and 2-of-4 from long distance.  She also went a perfect 2-for-2 at the charity stripe.

Guard Brandi Collins had a powerful performance from on the court, putting up eight total points from a 3-of-7 performance in the field.  Collins also hit on 2-of-3 from extra-long distance.

The women will return after the winter holidays on Friday, December 30th at 3:00 PM.  The game will take place in Denver, Colo. at the Regis Field House against Western State.
