Rangers Drop Second Straight with 80-56 Loss to Nebraska-Kearney

Kearney, Neb.: In Kearney, Neb. on Friday, the Rangers grabbed the first lead of the game against the Lopers which ended up being the only lead they obtained during the night. While Salina Kuiper and Meagan Nickell scored 13 and 12 points respectively, Regis fell 80-56 in the match. 

The game began with Kuiper laying a bucket in to put Regis up by two; this two point lead would be the only lead the Rangers would have for the game. About halfway through the first half, the Lopers were up by eight, 21-13, before the Rangers went on a 7-0 run to come within one, 21-20, of Kearney. From that point, the Lopers went on an 11-2 run to take a ten point lead with just under four minutes remaining in the first half. The teams broke with Kearney up 40-26. 

During the second half, the Lopers were able to increase their lead to 26 three separate times before grabbing the 24 point victory over Regis, 80-56. 

While Kuiper and Nickell led the team offensively, Brandi Collins led the team from the defensive end pulling down six boards for the Rangers. Kaitie Vader grabbed five. 

Up next, Regis will travel to Chadron State to take on the Eagles on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
