Rangers Unable to Carry Momentum in Second Game Finishing 1-1 Against Minn. Duluth

Denver, Colo.: Adding another split to their book, Regis went 1-1 against Minnesota Duluth on Sun. at home as they won game one 13-11 before succumbing in a five inning run rule, 10-0, in game two.

Regis took a two run lead in the bottom of the first as they posted two runs to the board. Cassie Long brought in both on a left field single. To sit up by five, the Rangers scored three more in the bottom of the second. The first run came on a Bulldog error, unearned, before Natalie Adami and Long each brought in a run on two singles.

Minnesota Duluth came within two of the Rangers as they scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth on three hits taking advantage of one Regis error. With four more runs in the top of the fifth, the Bulldogs took a two run lead, 7-5, on four hits and one Ranger error.

The Rangers regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth, 12-7, when they scored seven runs on four hits and two Bulldog errors. One run for Minnesota State in the top of the sixth brought the Bulldogs within four of Regis, 12-8, going into the bottom of the inning.

A double by Natalie Adami in the bottom of the sixth brought in Amber Aragon-Autobee to post another run to the board for Regis. Minnesota Duluth was able to cross three runs over the board in the top of the seventh but not enough to catch the Rangers. Regis grabbed the 13-11 victory with Nikki Haberkorn recording the win in the circle (3-2) and fanning eight batters.

Up next, the Rangers will travel to Silver City, N.M. to take on the Western New Mexico Mustangs on Fri., Feb. 26th and Sat., Feb. 27th. First pitch is set for noon on Fri.
