Denver, Colo.: In one final tune-up before RMAC competition begins, Regis and cross-town rival Metro State scored indentical 12-5 victories in a two-game split today.
Regis (2-4) trailed 2-1 in the fourth inning when they scored two in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. Senior Aaron Salvucci and junior Dave Holland provided back-to-back singles that drove in the two runs.
Metro State (3-1) scored a run each in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 4-3 lead before the Regis offense woke up. The Rangers were aided by two wild pitches that plated all three of the runs in the sixth inning. Regis tacked on two more in the seventh inning with one score coming as a result of an error by the Metro State right fielder and a walk by sophomore Tim Lewis that plated junior Ty Lain.
Regis put the game away by scoring four runs in the eighth inning including two on a homerun by Salvucci to right field.
Regis collected 16 hits including a perfect 4-for-4 from Salvucci as he drove in three runs and scored twice. Lain went 3-for-5, while Holland, freshmen Steven Brault and Jon Shoutta and senior Zach Blakeley each contributing two hits.
Junior Charlie Henderson picked up his first victory of the season going eight innings allowing just four runs, striking out five and walking none.

Game two was moving along quickly and Metro State held a slim 1-0 lead heading into the fifth inning when the Roadrunners erupted for eight runs, all unearned and blew the game open. They tacked on three more in the sixth and Regis tried to make a comeback and scored five runs in the last two innings, but it wasn't enough.
The two freshman, Brault and Shoutta, combined for five of the nine hits with Brault going 3-for-4. Junior Steve Falconi suffered his first loss of the season going just 4 1/3 innings but allowing just one earned run, while striking out six Roadrunners.

Regis will travel to Las Vegas, N.M. to take on New Mexico Highlands for a four-game series.
