Overtime Serves Rangers Well as They Snag 72-71 Victory Over Mines

Box Score

Denver, Colo.: After dropping five straight games, the Rangers snagged a one point overtime victory over Colorado Mines in Golden on Friday. The score was tied 12 times before Regis walked away with the victory.

Salina Kuiper led the way for Regis as she totaled 22 points on the night and pulled down five boards for the Rangers. Kari Ameling scored 13 points followed by Meagan Nickell and Lauren Luebbe who each had ten. Nickell also dished out five assists.

The game was tied three times during the first half with neither team able to create a large gap. Just as Regis led at the buzzer by one point, they led by one point at the closing of the first half as well.

The second half read a similar story with the largest lead being six points by the Orediggers. With 31 seconds remaining in the overtime period, Ameling tied the score with an offensive board followed by a layup. A foul brought Ameling to the charity strip where she missed her first attempt and sunk her second to put the Rangers up by one. This would be the last bucket to be made in the game guiding Regis to a 72-71 victory over CSM.

Up next, the Rangers will travel to Colorado Christian on Saturday to take on the Cougars. Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
