Second Consecutive Overtime not so Generous to the Rangers

Denver, Colo.: After grabbing a 72-71 overtime victory over Colorado Mines on Friday, Regis fell in overtime, 73-68, to Colorado Christian on Saturday at Christian. After grabbing the first lead of the game, the Rangers trailed for the remainder of play with the exception of a one-point lead that started the overtime period. 

The first half served Regis well as they shot 42.3 (11-26) percent from the floor to the Cougar's 37.2 (16-43) percent. At the 15:09 mark, CCU led by two (9-7) and began a 8-1 run over a span of two and-a-half mintues to take a nine point lead with 12:22 remaining. After exchanging baskets, Christian walked away at the break up by ten (40-30). 

The Cougars were able to increase their lead to 14 at one point during the second half before Regis went on a 13-2 run about halfway through the period to come within two of CCU. For the remainder of the period, the score was tied three times before a 64-64 tie at the buzzer sent the game into overtime. While Regis took the first lead of the overtime period, Christian took over the lead and held onto it until the buzzer. 

Lauren Luebbe led the team with 26 total points followed by Chelsea Porter with nine. Luebbe also led the team in boards with three. 

Up next, the Rangers will travel to Kearney, Neb. to take on the Lopers on Fri., Feb. 11th. Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
