Denver, Colo.: The Regis Ranger baseball team snapped their tiny two-game skid by taking two from Colorado Christian today, scoring 30 runs total. Regis took the first game 15-2, while also scoring 15 in the nightcap to just four for CCU.
Regis (7-6, 5-1 RMAC) got another stellar performance from junior right-hander Charlie Henderson. Henderson went the distance for the second straight game, scattering just six hits and giving up two earned runs. He walked only one batter and struck out two Cougars.
Colorado Christian drops to 4-9 overall and 0-6 in the RMAC.
Sophomore outfielder Bob Terry went 3-for-6 with two RBIs and two doubles. Regis got homeruns from senior Zach Blakeley, junior Alex Haag and freshman John Tosches, with each of them driving in three runs.
Game two got off to a roaring start as the Rangers scored seven runs in the first inning and three more in the second to take a commanding 10-0 lead en route to the 15-4 victory.
Junior Steve Falconi went the distance, also his second game in a row, allowing four earned runs and 10 hits with only one walk.
Freshman dynamo Jon Shoutta went a perfect 3-for-3 in the game with three RBIs. Shoutta leads the team with a robust .511 after the Rangers first 13 games. Shoutta had two bombs in the game and was helped out by sophomore catcher Nano Jacobsen's four RBIs and 3-for-5 performance at the plate.
Sophomore Wes Keelan was also perfect at the plate, 2-for-2 with two RBIs, while Haag and freshman Rudy Strnad each went 2-for3 at the dish. Brault also drove in three runs, going 2-for-4.
The Rangers went 18-for-39 at the plate as a team and struck out just three times.
