Denver, Colo.: For their first double header sweep, Regis defeated the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs on Sunday; they completed the series taking three of four on the weekend. Game one ended in Regis' favor 2-1 before the Rangers stole game two 4-3.
The first and second innings of game one went scoreless before UCCS took a one-run lead in the top of the third. The run was unearned and scored on a Ranger error.
The bottom of the fourth brought two Regis runs on a homer over the right field fence by Natalie Adami. She scored Shannon Massine on the play which became the winning run, 2-1, of the game. Bianca Holley recorded the win in the circle and jumps to 8-3 this season.
Game two brought two early runs for the Rangers as they scored two in the bottom of the first taking advantage of two Mountain Lion errors. They tacked another run to the board in the bottom of the second as Shannon Massine reached on a fielder's choice and brought in Emily Anderson.
A single by Cassie Long in the third brought another Ranger run across the plate to put Regis up 4-0 going into the fourth. UCCS came within three of Regis in the top of the fourth inning as they crossed one over the plate. Adding another run to the board in the fifth brought the Mountain Lions within two of Regis, 4-2, going into the bottom of the inning.
A leadoff walk, by Erin Milburn, in the top of the sixth brought the Mountain Lions within one of the Rangers, 4-3, when Milburn scored on a single to left field by Leeling. With UCCS unable to cross anymore over the plate, Regis recorded the win. In the circle was Nikki Haberkorn who sits at 5-5 this season.
Up next, the Rangers will travel to Pueblo to face Colorado State University at Pueblo on Sat., Mar. 19th. First pitch is set for noon.
