Denver, Colo.: A high scoring game for Regis ends unfavorably for the Rangers as they succumb 12-7 to the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers at home on Friday. A six rally inning wasn't enough as they were only able to add one more to the board in the game eventually falling by five.
Nebraska-Kearney took a two-run lead in the top of the first on three hits and a Loper double by Andrew Haake that crossed two over the plate. They bumped this lead up to three in the third when they tacked one more run to the board on one Loper hit.
The Rangers took a commanding lead, 6-3, in the bottom of the inning when they rallied for six runs on five hits. Alex Haag was responsible for two of those runs as he homered to right field in the inning. Unfortunately for Regis, Kearney nearly matched their runs posting five in the top of the fourth to sit up 8-6 going into the bottom of the inning.
The fifth went scoreless before Kearney scored four in the sixth to sit up 12-6. The Rangers scored one in the bottom of the inning on a double by Steven Brault to head into the seventh down by five, 12-7. A scoreless three innings ended the game in nine in favor of Kearney 12-7. Recording the loss in the circle was Charlie Henderson who falls to 3-1. Todd Stachura recorded the win for UNK and jumps to 4-0.
Up next, Regis will continue their series with Kearney on Saturday as they host a double header. First pitch is set for noon.
