Denver, Colo.: Continuing their pattern of splits, the Rangers defeated Chadron State 2-1 in eight innings in game one before falling in a 16-5 mercy rule in game two. With this, Regis sits 8-7 overall and 2-2 in RMAC play.
After a scoreless first inning, both teams posted one run in the second. Jamie Mazankowski led off top of the inning for the Eagles with a single and was eventually brought in by Katie Londo. Emily Anderson matched CSC's run with a homer over the right field fence in the bottom of the inning.
The game went into the eighth inning before another run was scored. Alisa Heronema singled up the middle and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. A single to right field by Natalie Adami brought Heronema in for the run and the win.
Bianca Holley recorded the win in the circle and jumps to 5-2.
Chadron State jumped ahead by two runs in the top of the first in game two as they tallied three hits in the inning. They added another run to the board in the second before Regis posted two of their own in the bottom of the inning to come within one of Chadron State, 3-2. They had two hits and took advantage of two Eagle errors in the inning.
To lead off the bottom of the third, Adami homered to right field to tie the score at three.
The top of the fourth brought a grand slam for the Eagles when Kate Bolin sent one over the left field fence to put Chadron State up by four, 7-3. They added three more runs to sit up 10-3 going into the bottom of the inning.
On two Eagle errors, Regis scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to come within five of Chadron State, 10-5.
Adding six runs in the top of the fifth on four hits put the Eagles up by 11 going into the bottom of the inning. With Regis unable to post any runs in the bottom of the fifth, they fell 16-5 in the fifth due to a mercy rule.
Up next, the Rangers will host Chadron State to complete the series on Sunday. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m.
