Denver, Colo.: Breaking pattern, the Rangers, although splitting with Chadron State, fell in game one, 6-5, and turned around to tally 15 hits and snag game two, 12-9. They rallied for 24hits and 17 runs on the day and split in the overall series with the Eagles.
A right field single by Nikki Ritzen brought in the Eagle's first run of the game, Katie Londo who led off the inning with a double, in the bottom of the second. A Ranger error brought in another run to put Chadron State up by two going into the third.
Regis tied the score at two in the bottom of the third when Natalie Adami hit a two run triple to right field which brought in Sara Baumberger and Alisa Heronema.
Chadron State went up by four, 6-2, in the sixth on two, two run homers by Angela Jay and Katelyn McBeth.
On four hits in the bottom of the sixth, Regis added two runs to the board to come within two of Chadron State, 6-4.
With two outs, an Eagle error put Nikki Haberkorn on second in the top of the seventh. Cassie Long followed with a single to right field to bring in Haberkorn and cut the Rangers' deficit to one, 6-5. Unable to score another run to send the game into extra innings, Regis fell by one run to the Eagles. Bianca Holley recorded the loss and falls to 5-3 this season.
Sara Baumberger went 3-for-3 in the game with one run scored and one RBI while Natalie Adami brought in two runs in the game.
On five hits, Chadron State scored five runs in the top of the first inning during game two. The Rangers added a run to the board in the bottom of the first when Adami got herself in a pickle attempting to steal second; Shannon Massine scored on the play.
A three run homer by Jamie Mazankowski put Chadron State up by seven, 8-1, in the top of the second.
One run in the bottom of the third added another run to the board for Regis, 8-2. With a surge, the bottom of the fourth brought nine runs on nine hits to put the Rangers up by three, 11-8. Holley had the go-ahead RBI in the inning with a single to left field.
A leadoff homerun in the top of the fifth by Katie Londo brought the Eagles within two of Regis, 11-9. In the bottom of the sixth, the Rangers added one run to the board to sit up by three, 12-9, going into the seventh. Able to hold the Eagles scoreless in the top of the inning, Regis walked away with the victory.
Holley recorded the win, 6-3, and Haberkorn the save.
Baumberger went 2-for-3 in game two with another run scored and RBI to go 5-for-6 on the day with two runs and two RBI's.
