Denver, Colo.: The New Mexico Highlands Cowboys led wire-to-wire and beat Regis 7-1 in the first of four RMAC baseball games this week.
Reigning RMAC Pitcher of the Week Charlie Henderson struggled early and New Mexico Highlands (17-20, 11-17 RMAC) scored a run in each of the four innings, while Regis (16-19, 14-14 RMAC) earned their only run in the fourth inning when junior Ty Lain began the inning with a single. Freshman John Tosches moved Lain over on a single of his own and then Lain scored when junior Alex Haag hit a single through the left side.
Tosches and junior Dave Holland each went 2-for-3 in the Rangers nine-hit attack. Henderson dropped to 6-2 on the season throwing six innings and allowing five earned runs. Sophomore Aaron Harms pitched the final three innings and allowed just two hits and one unearned run.
The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at noon.
