Rangers Score 28 Runs to Sweep Grizzlies

Denver, Colo.: After tallying 21 runs on Saturday, the Rangers scored 28 more on Sunday to total for 49 runs on the weekend and sweep Adams State on the road. Game one ended 7-4 in favor of Regis before the Rangers blew out ASC 21-12 in game two. 

The first inning of game one went scoreless before Regis went up 3-0 in the top of the second as they recorded four hits. Shannon Massine brought in one run before Alisa Heronema doubled to bring in two. They posted another run in the third to sit up 4-0 going into the bottom of the inning. 

A scoreless fourth inning sent the game into the fifth where the Grizzlies posted three runs, 4-3, on five hits. Regis matched their runs in the top of the sixth on a three-run homer by Massine to jump ahead, 7-3. 

While Adams State scored one in the bottom of the inning it wasn't enough for the Grizzlies as they fell 7-4 to the Rangers. Recording the win in the circle was Bianca Holley. She walked just one batter while striking out five. 

Regis took an early two run lead in the second game as they crossed two over the plate in the top of the first. While Adams State added one run to the board in the bottom of the second, the Rangers jumped ahead by nine in the third as they rallied for eight runs. 

Sara Baumberger led off the inning with a solo home run followed by a Ranger double and single before Alyssa Beskid sent the ball over the fence for three RBI's. A triple scored two more Rangers before an infield single crossed another. A final unearned run put Regis up 10-1. 

The Grizzlies cut their deficit to seven, 10-3, in the bottom of the fourth as they posted two runs on three hits. With four more runs in the top of the fifth Regis sat up 14-3 going into the bottom of the inning. ASC rallied in the bottom of the inning for seven runs to sit down by four, 14-10, going into the sixth. 

Regis scored four more in the top of the sixth followed by two Grizzly runs in the bottom of the inning. With three more Ranger runs in the top of the seventh and no Adams State players crossing the plate in the inning, Regis walked away with the 21-12 victory. Nikki Haberkorn recorded the win and jumps to 6-8 this season. She fanned eight batters in the game while walking four. 

Up next, Regis will travel to Durango to take on the Fort Lewis Skyhawks on Sat., April 8th. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
