Denver, Colo.: With a one hitter in game one, Bianca Holley helped lead the Rangers to a double-header sweep of the New Mexico Highlands Cowgirls on Saturday. Regis snagged game one 5-0 before claiming a one run victory, 2-1, in game two.
Game one went scoreless for an inning before Regis posted three runs in the bottom of the second. Cassie Long and Amber Aragon-Autobee each singled to reach base before a walk by Emily Anderson loaded the bases. A double by Shannon Massine scored Long and Aragon-Autobee for the first two runs. A Cowgirl passed ball then brought in Anderson for the third run of the inning.
The fourth brought two more runs for Regis to put the Rangers up by five, 5-0, going into the fifth. Another hit by Massine brought in Long for the first run before Anderson advanced home on a stolen base by Massine for the second.
Shutting out the Cowgirls, Bianca Holley threw a one hitter while fanning six batters. She jumps to 16-9.
The second game remained scoreless for two innings before an unearned run for Regis in the bottom of the third put them up 1-0.
The top of the seventh brought one NMHU run to send the game into the bottom of the inning. With Regis unable to score, the game went into eight. With Regis adding one run to the board in the inning on a Cowgirl error, they grabbed the 2-1 victory.
Nikki Haberkorn recorded the win and jumps to 10-11 this season.
Up next, the Rangers will host Highlands on Sunday to complete their series with the Cowgirls. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m.
