Denver, Colo.: Coming into the RMAC tournament as the fifth seed, Regis took on No. 4 seed Mesa State on Thursday at Golden High School. With a 5-2 win over the Mavericks, the Rangers will advance to the second round and face Metro State, No. 1 seed, at Golden High School. The first pitch is set for 10:00 a.m.
Regis held MSC scoreless for five innings while posting four runs of their own during this time. The Rangers took a one run lead in the first when Nikki Haberkorn singled to right field to bring in Sara Baumberger.
The second brought two more Ranger runs as Baumberger returned the favor bringing in two runs of her own on a single to left center. Emily Anderson and Alisa Heronema crossed the plate on the play.
The fifth brought one more Regis run to put the Rangers up 4-0 as Anderson doubled to left field to bring in Cassie Long. After five innings of play, the Mavericks put themselves on the board as they crossed two runs in the sixth, 4-2, on two hits.
Not backing down, Regis posted another run in the sixth to increase their lead to three, 5-2, going into the seventh. Natalie Adami recorded the RBI as she scored Baumberger on the play.
With a scoreless top of the seventh, Regis recorded the victory and moves on in the tournament. Recording the win was Bianca Holley who sits at 18-9 this season.
