LaVeta, Colo.: A low round of 295 in the third and final round for Regis moved the Rangers from seventh to sixth at the Peaks Classic at Grandote Peaks Golf Club (72-7085).
Wayland Baptist took home the team title with a 54-hole total of 871 (+7) outdistancing RMAC-foe CSU-Pueblo by 12 strokes.
Senior Ben Davis had himself some kind of round by carding a 4-under 68, the lowest 18-hole score of any of the 54 competitors in the whole tournament. He finished with a 230 and tied for 22nd, which was second best on the team to fellow senior Robert Quick's 222. Quick had a final round score of 74 to finish 10th overall.
Freshman Steven DaSilva tied for 28th and shot his low 18 of the tournament with a 74 in the final round and a 233 overall. Freshman Dillon McDonald shot an 82 in the final round following a 76 and 79 in the first two rounds and ended up with a 237 to finish 32nd. Sophomore Donnie Stewart also competed and ended with a 243 (85-79-79) to finish 44th.
Regis will take a week off before heading to Gothenburg, Neb. for the RMAC/NSIC Crossover at Wild Horse Golf Club, September 25-26.
