Box Score Colorado Springs, Colo.: Senior middle blocker Lyz Kann from Scotsdale, Ariz. earned RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors this week.
In match one on Friday, Kann had a career-high 11 blocks for the Rangers. In game two, she collected three blocks. She earned 10 kills on the day. On Saturday, Kann earned six kills in the first game and nine in the second. On the day she had 10 blocks and averaged 2.14 blocks per set in the four-match set.
During the whole weekend, Kann played in 11 sets and had 25 kills out of 62 total attempts, a 2.27 kill average. She recorded six block solos and 18 block assists for the Rangers. She had 24 blocks and two digs in all four matches at St. Mary's.
The Rangers played in the St. Mary's Tournament this past Friday and Saturday, participating in four total matches. Friday's matches were both 3-0 wins against East Central University and Abilene Christian University. Saturday went at the same pace for the Regis women as they won both contests again 3-0 against Pace University and University of Illinois at Springfield.
In 2010, Kann earned a place on the Colorado Premier Challenge All-Tournament Team and the RMAC Academic Honor Roll.
The Rangers will play Colorado's Johnson & Wales at 7:00 PM tonight, Tuesday, September 6th at home in Denver.
