Box Score Colorado Springs, Colo.: (By Dylan Docker) The Regis men took a tough loss on the road Friday night, falling 82-60 to the University of Colorado of Colorado Springs. The Mountain Lions (7-9, 6-4 RMAC) utilized a high-powered offense to contain the Rangers (4-10, 1-9 RMAC) throughout the game.
The Mountain Lions scored first and never looked back, opening up a double-digit lead in the first seven minutes. From there the Regis defense began to step up, allowing the Rangers to pull to within three toward the end of the half.
Junior forward Demitrius Owens led the Regis offense in the first half with 12 points. However, the Mountain Lions answered with a 17-6 run to close out the half and bring a 14-point lead into the locker room.
Regis could not regain control of the game in the second half. The Mountain Lions eventually built a 27-point lead behind freshman guard Darius Pardner, who scored 23 total points on the night.
Senior guard Lance Korell dropped two three-pointers and scored eight total points to lead Regis in the second half, but the home team eventually prevailed by a score of 82-60.
Owens led the Rangers with his 12 points, shooting 5-10 from the field. Senior forward Chris Johansen scored 10 points of his own and led the team with seven total rebounds in 34 minutes of play.
The Rangers will travel to Pueblo tomorrow night to take on the ThunderWolves of Colorado State University-Pueblo. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
