Box Score Grand Junction, Colo.: (By Dylan Docker) The Rangers traveled to Colorado Mesa University Friday night looking to beat the Mavericks for the second time this season, but the home team instead took revenge with a 71-36 victory.
The Rangers (4-14, 1-13 RMAC) were looking strong in the first half, holding a lead through the first nine minutes of play. However, the Mavericks (10-8, 8-6 RMAC) would open up a permanent double-digit lead with 11 first half points from senior forward Michael Bear.
Things did not improve for the visitors in the second half. The Mavericks offense refused to let up, highlighting their attack with an 18-3 run toward the middle of the half. Colorado Mesa, led by junior forward Colton Burgon with 15 points in the game, went on to win 71-36.
Sophomore forward
Jon Conley led the Rangers offense with eight points on the night. Junior forward Demetrius Owens again paced Regis on the boards with six total rebounds.
The Rangers will head to Western State College tomorrow night to take on the Mountaineers. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
