Stuart Nets Game-Winner in 87th Minute; Rangers Defeat Mavericks 1-0

Box Score

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.:  Regis University women's soccer defeated the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa University with three minutes left in the match.  Junior Meghan Stuart netted the game-winner directly off a corner kick to improve the Ranger's record to 11-4-1 and their RMAC record to 9-2-1.

Both teams were head-to-head throughout the match, but the Rangers outshot the Mavs 12-10 by the end of the match.

In the 87th minute, with the score tied 1-0, the Rangers earned a corner kick opportunity which Stuart would take.  Stuart sent the corner straight to the back of the Maverick net for her sixth goal of the 2012 season.

Regis put seven shots on goal in 12 attempts.  Senior Marissa Davis and freshman Sade Akindele each put both of their shots on goal throughout the match.

The Ranger defense only allowed the Mavs seven shots, while freshman Brianna Randall put up three saves for the Rangers in her 90:00 minutes in goal.

Regis will travel to Alamosa, Colo. for their next RMAC matchup against the Grizzlies of Adams State College.  The match will take place on Friday, October 26 at 1:00 PM.
