Denver, Colo.: Junior Jarrett Green's 27 points not enough as cold shooting dooms Regis in a 73-66 loss to Haskell Indian Nations.

Regis (1-1) and Haskell (3-5) battled each other early with Regis leading by six points midway through the first half with Haskell's large lead of three coming just a minute and a half remaining in the first half.  Green scored 16 of his points in the first half and was able to keep Regis in the game as he went 5-for-8 while the rest of the team went 8-for-24 (33.3).  The two teams were knotted at 36 heading into the lockerroom.

The Rangers cold shooting continued in the second half as they hit on just 27 percent overall and 21.4 percent from long range.  Haskell's Raymond Whiteshield then took over the game scoring 12 straight points for his team over a four minutes span.  The Rangers last lead came with 17:40 left in the game on a Jarrett Green three-point basket.

Regis was able to cut the lead to two points on five different occassions but could not get over the hump.  Haskell hit 11-for-14 at the charity stripe down the stretch but a couple of turnovers by the Indians and some timely baskets cut the Haskell lead tto 67-64 with just 24 seconds remaining.  Haskell hit their last six free throws to shut the door on Regis and win 73-66.

Green went 10-for-18, including 3-for-4 from three range and 4-for-4 at the free throw line.  Senior Dionte Goodlett put in 10 points, while junior Corbin Green came off the bench to put in nine points.  He grabbed six boards, second to senior Demitrius Owens' 15 boards.  Owens also had three assists, four steals and two blocks.

Regis returns to action tomorrow night when they host Dallas Baptist at 7:00 p.m.
