Box Score DENVER, Colo.: Ranger women's basketball headed across town today for their first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game of the 2012-13 season. Regis came away with a big 65-62 win over the RoadRunners.
Regis was up 34-29 going into the second half. The score went back and forth and ended up tied 62-62 with 27 seconds left to play.
Senior Sarah Feeney put her first free throw in to tie it up and her second to gain the 63-62 lead. Feeney led the Rangers with eight rebounds on the night, while she also put up seven points.
With 12 second left, senior Meghan Hollenga came up with a big steal, took it all the way down the court and drew a foul which sent her to the charity stripe. She hit both free throws to advance the Rangers lead to 65-62, which they would maintain throughout the game. Hollenga went 2-for-3 from the field, while hitting all five of her free throw attempts.
Leading the Rangers with 15 points on the night was senior Kara Larson. The post hit six from the field and three of four from the charity stripe, while putting up one steal and three assists as well.
Junior Tae'lor Purdy netted 14 points for Regis, while pulling down five rebounds and collecting one steal and one assist throughout the night.
Also hitting double digits was sophomore Sarah Seefeldt who put up 10 points for the Rangers.
Regis outshot Metro 52.2 percent to 49 percent from the field, and 93.3 percent to 50 percent from the charity stripe on the night. The Ranger hit on 14-of-15 shots from the line.
The Rangers will continue RMAC play at CSU-Pueblo on Friday, December 7th at 5:30 PM.
