Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

DENVER, Colo.:  Ranger softball advanced their record to 4-12 overall and 3-3 in the RMAC conference with two wins (5-1, 10-1) Saturday against the Mustangs of Western New Mexico University.

The women started early in the first game, scoring three in the second inning.  They kept the lead throughout the game and put on two more runs to make the final score 5-1.

Senior Cassie Long started the run in the second inning with a single up the middle.  Senior Natalie Adami and freshman Taylor Wilcox had singles of their own to load the bases.  Junior Alyssa Beskid ripped a double to right field to score all three of them.

The Rangers put up another run in the third after Wilcox doubled to right field, and another in the fifth when Adami homered.

"We finally came together as a team, everything clicked and that made the world of difference" commented Beskid.  "We knew we were this good and being home brought it out."

Beskid went 1-for-3 with three RBIs, Wilcox went 2-for-3 with one RBI, and Adami went 2-for-3 with one RBI and a homerun.

Senior Nikki Haberkorn (1-7) garnered her first win in the circle, striking out four and allowing only six hits in 29 batters faced.

The second game proved to be just as kind to the Rangers as the women defeated the Mustangs 10-1 in 11 hits and five innings.  The women put up four runs in the second to push the Mustangs in to a deep hole and continued to score two runs an inning in the second, third and fourth innings.

Wilcox had another standout performance as she went 2-for-2 with one walk and one homerun.  She put up three RBIs for the Rangers.  Beskid also went 2-for-2 with three RBIs to help out the Rangers.

Junior Shannon Massine and sophomore Breanna Backlund had two hits, while three other Rangers had one hit each.

Freshman Sydney Gaffin (3-3) will get the win after spending five innings in the circle.  She struck out two while allowing only one run and five hits in 22 batters faced.
