Durango, Colo.: The Regis University women's lacrosse team had defeated Fort Lewis in all seven matchups between the two teams and early on the Rangers overlooked the Skyhawks before a massive comeback propelled them to a 18-17 double overtime victory.

Regis (7-7, 5-2 WILA) notched the first goal of the game when junior Jessika Carlstrom scored her seventh goal of the season.  For the next 10 minutes, however, Fort Lewis (6-7, 3-3 WILA) dominated the game.  They scored seven unanswered goals to take a 7-1 lead with 16 minutes left in the first half.

The Rangers then started to mount their comeback by scoring the next four goals to cut the lead to 7-5 with just under five minutes left till the half.  The two teams traded goals the rest of the way with senior Erin Dybus scoring one her team-leading three goals with just 1:14 remaining in the first stanza.

The Skyhawks came out of the lockerrom on a mission scoring the first three goals and five of six to take a 14-9 lead with plenty of time remaining, 23:47.  The deep and talented Rangers would not go quietly as senior Ari McDonald scored two goals for the Rangers during a stretch where Regis put home seven shots to regain the lead 16-14 with 6:30 left in regulation.

The Regis defense held for four minutes and just when it looked like the Rangers would get out of town with a win, the Skyhawk offense tallied two late goals, one with just 1:14 remaining to tie the game at 16 and send it into overtime. 

Jessica Norby scored for Fort Lewis in the first overtime and then in double overtime junior Margaret Nahrup tied the score at 17 before freshman Melissa Hastie scored the game-winning goal with just 55 second left.  Sophomore Danica Cutshall got her 10th draw control of the game and the Rangers were able to run the clock out and escape with an 18-17 win.

Dybus notched three goals off the bench, while five others scored two apiece.  Cutshall, Nahrup and freshman Hilary Duda each assisted on two goals.  Cutshall grabbed 10 draw controls, her fourth double-digit game of the season.

Defensively freshman Morgan Pierson led the way off the bench with a game-high four caused turnovers and four ground balls in just her second game back from injury.  Nahrup, freshman Sierra Perrella and junior Erin Flynn also collected four ground balls.  Freshman Emily Behr had another nice game with eight draw controls.

Freshman Gianna Lombardi got the win in goal playing all 66 minutes and making nine saves.

Regis will return home and take on Colorado Mesa on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
