Denver, Colo.: The Regis women's lacrosse team knew they had to play a great game to beat #2 Rollins and that is exactly what they got and sent their seniors out with a bang winning 14-13.

Rollins (15-1) got on the board first when Katie Palasz scored just 38 seconds into the game.  Regis (9-8) responded with a one-person advantage, when senior Morgan Taylor scored just one minute later.

The Tars scored the next three goals to take a 4-1 lead.  It was two Regis freshman that cut the Rollins' lead to 4-3 with one goal each from Hilary Duda and Emily Behr.  Mo Imel scored for Rollins to give them a 6-4 lead with 4:42 left in the first half but the Ranger defense tightened the screws and didn't allow the visitors from Winter Park, Fla. to score again in the first half.

The Rangers scored two goals late in the first half, the first one by junior Margaret Nahrup with 1:01 left, while Behr notched her second goal of the half with just 35 seconds to go.

Rollins had a decided advantage outshooting the Rangers 21-8 in the first half but not on the scoreboard as the halftime score was 6-6.

Rollins scored the first goal of stanza two, before the Ranger offense found their groove and showed the Tars they were a force to be reckoned with.

Regis scored four goals in a row and there was a definite change in momentum.  Freshman Sydney Tomlinson scored on a free position shot with 22:27 left in the game.  Sophomore Danica Cutshall then took a ball from midfield and ran all the way through the Rollins defense to put the Rangers ahead 8-7.

Junior Jessika Carlstrom one upped Custhall by kniving through the defense the length of the field to put Regis up 9-7 with just over 20 minutes left.  A minute and a half later senior Erin Dybus scored with the Rangers having a two-person advantage to put them up 10-7.

Rollins wouldn't go away scoring the next two goals to cut the Ranger lead to 10-9.  Nahrup who played one of her best games, scored again with just under 16 minutes left off a pass from Duda. 

The deep Rollins team scored four unanswered goals the last one coming with 11:36 left in the game to take a 13-11 lead.  Duda answered for the Rangers just 32 seconds later off an assist from senior Ari McDonald.

The Ranger defense stymied the potent Tar offense and didn't allow them to score a goal over the final 11:35 of the game.  Neither team scored for almost nine minutes before the Ranger fireworks happened.

Senior Morgan Taylor was fouled with just 2:45 and was awarded a free position shot and was able to tie the game at 13.  Rollins secured the next draw control and controlled the ball for about a minute and a half before the Tars' Erica Pagliarulo attempted a shot but freshman Gianna Lombardi was up to the challenge for Regis stopping the shot.

The Ranger offense then kicked into gear and with the game on the line Nahrup again came through with a goal with just 31 ticks left on the clock, assisted by freshman Sierra Perrella.

Rollins did have one more chance as they got the ensuing draw control and before the Tars could get a shot on goal Nahrup took a charge from Caroline Lamere and the Rangers were able to run out the clock for the historic victory.

Rollins was tagged with six yellow cards while the Rangers were able to stay out of the penalty box.

Nahrup tallied three goals, while Taylor, Behr, and Duda each put in two.  Cutshall led the team with two assists.  Nahrup led the team with five draw controls, with Behr grabbing three.  Flynn led the team with five ground balls, while her and Nahrup topped the team with three caused turnovers.

Regis finished the season with a 9-8 record and lose three seniors, Morgan Taylor, Carly Wagner and Ari McDonald.
