GOLDEN, Colo.:  The Regis softball team took one away from Colorado School of Mines in a double header on Friday.  The women took the first game 3-0 before losing the second game 1-6.

Senior Nikki Haberkorn had a day at the plate, hitting 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.  She sent a double right field and a single up the middle in her last two at bats. 

Sophomore Breanna Backlund earned herself a 2-for-2 performance at the plate, doubling to left field and singling up the middle.  She also earned one sac fly to right field in the first inning tallying one RBI on the play.

Haberkorn, now 7-11 in the circle, earned the win after slinging seven innings.  She allowed four hits and three walks while striking out two in her 28 batters faced.

The Orediggers made the second game more of a challenge, earning one run to start the game in the first inning, and five more in the second to put on a 6-0 lead over the Rangers.

 The Rangers had an attempt in the seventh to gain some runs, scoring freshman Breanna Bogdajeiwcz on a ball hit to the third baseman that senior Natalie Adami hit. 

Four Rangers collected one hit apiece.  Freshman Sydney Gaffin saw the first 1.1 innings, allowing six runs on four hits and six errors, with two walks and one strikeout during her time.  She saw 11 batters.

Freshman Molly Tyler finished the five inning game allowing four hits and one walk with three strikeouts in her 17 batters faced.

The Rangers will finish the series in Golden Saturday at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
