Denver, Colo.: Regis and Nebraska-Kearney are getting together one last time as members of the RMAC before Nebraska-Kearney leaves for the MIAA.

Nebraska-Kearney (18-29, 17-21 RMAC) came out blazing with an 11-0 win in game one while Regis (26-21, 21-17 RMAC) responded with a 3-2 victory in the nightcap.  The Rangers currently second in the plains division of the RMAC and fourth overall and still have an outside chance at earning the three seed.  Regardless, the Rangers will play CSU-Pueblo in the first round of the RMAC Tournament next Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in Pueblo.

Senior Charlie Henderson (5-4), seeing his last action as a Ranger on his home mound, was opposed by Mike Loseke (4-5).  Henderson was in trouble early as the Lopers scored four runs in the first inning on two doubles.  Chandler Klute hit into what could of been an inning-ending double play but Regis shortstop Cody Hastings muffed the throw from Henderson at second and loaded the bases.  Christian Lujan then came up and smacked a bases clearing double to give the Lopers a 4-0 lead.

UNK scored two more in each of the second and third innnings to take an 8-0 lead after three.  Loseke, however, took a no-hitter through five innings when UNK Head Coach Damon Day decided to not send him back out for the sixth inning.  Chayse Galzow came in and sure enough the first Ranger batter, Hastings, hit a single to left field to break up the no-no.  Gulzow however allowed just one more hit and no runs to shutout the Rangers 11-0.

The shutout was the first for a Ranger team at home in five years as the 2007 team was shutout against then Mesa State 9-0 on April 14th.

Game two pitted senior Mike McElreath (7-4) for Regis and Adam Peters (5-5) of Nebraska-Kearney. 

The Rangers got on board first when junior Ryan Eustice led off the inning and hammered a ball to left field that caromed off the scoreboard for his fifth homerun of the season.  Nebraska-Kearney tied the game in the top of the second with a run after McElreath sat down the first two batters of the inning.

The score stayed knotted till the bottom of the fifth inning.  Eustice, hit by pitch, and Nick Billinger, error, were at second and first respectivly when senior Alex Haag came through in a big moment.  Haag, who leads the team in hitting, banged out his 37th double of his career plating both runners and putting Regis ahead 3-1.

UNK scored one run in the sixth inning on two hits when Reid Carter hit a single that scored Mike Nowak.  Fortunately for the Rangers, Carter was picked off at first by McElreath.

With one out in the seventh, UNK got back-to-back singles but McElreath was able to get Klute to fly out to center and Lujan to line out to left to earn another complete game victory.

The two teams will play one more time tomorrow with first game beginning at 12:00 p.m.
