Regis Drops Second in a Row, This Time to #23 Colorado Mines

Golden, Colo.: Regis University volleyball dropped their second match in a row this time to #23 Colorado Mines.  The balanced offensive attack of the Orediggers showed as they outhit the Rangers .299 to .077.

Regis (8-6, 2-2 RMAC) trailed by just one, 3-2, before Colorado Mines (8-4, 3-1 RMAC) scored seven of the next eight points to take a 10-3 lead and cruised to a 25-13 win.  The Rangers responded early in set #2 leading 17-11.  CSM again scored seven of the next eight points to tie the set at 18.  The set was tied three more times but the Rangers were unable to gain a lead and the Orediggers squeaked out a 25-23 win.

The third set was tied 13 times with three lead changes but ultimately the Rangers were able to prevail 25-20.  Just when it looked like the 18th-ranked Rangers would get back in the match, they laid an egg and fell in set #4 25-10.

Freshman Katie Klein put down 18 more kills on the night, followed by fellow freshman Caitie Breaux's nine kills.  Freshman Jaclyn Williamson assisted on 33 more kills while getting nine digs.  Junior Sage Martinson dug out 13 balls, while senior Caitlin McDonnell was the top defender at the net with three blocks.

Regis does not have long to lick their wounds as they travel to cross-town rival Metro State on Tuesday night.  The Roadrunners are currently ranked tenth in the nation.
