Women's Soccer Shuts Out Adams State with Big 4-0 Victory

Box Score

DENVER, Colo.:  Ranger women's soccer advanced their record to 7-2-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  Four Rangers sent balls to the back of the Grizzlies net to win the match.  Regis allowed Adams State three shots, only one of which was sent towards the Ranger goal.

The Rangers put their first shot in after 20 seconds of play.  Freshman Sidny Otto sent the ball to sophomore Kendal Kagawa.  The midfielder passed the ball in to senior Marissa Davis at the top of the 18 yard box.  Davis scored to the bottom left.

Adams State put their only shot on goal after the Rangers scored.  The Grizzly sent a ball to the top of the goal, but junior goalkeeper Ellen Augsburger made an outstanding save at the top of the crossbar.

The Rangers put their next goal in just before half time when sophomore Rebecca Brunson crossed to sophomore Kiki Arnold.  In her first match back after injury, she sent a header past the Grizzly goalkeeper to put the Rangers up 2-0.

Regis put two more goals in before the match was over, the first by Otto of a pass by junior Meghan Stuart in the 59th minute.

"We opened up really well, with a lot of energy," commented Stuart on the day.  "At practice, we've been working on combinations and crossing the ball on the ground, so today we made sure the runs were there and connected."

"Tomorrow, we need to rest and relax so we can come out with high energy again on Sunday."

Senior Maddie Reeves scored her second goal of the season in the 68th minute of play.  Both sides were in front of the Grizzlies' goal, but Reeves got a touch in their earning the Rangers their final goal of the match.

The Rangers will play at home again on Sunday, September 30th at 1:00 PM.
